Within these pages are stories from New Zealanders, tangata whenua o Aotearoa, people who have first-hand experience of depression. Their stories arent easy but then, depression isnt either. Our purpose in exploring this theme is to hear how New Zealanders experience depression, and if so, come to some form of healing. It is a hard conversation to have, though a necessary one. Ultimately, by sharing their stories, we hope that people come to understand that they arent alone in their experience. I havent edited much as I wanted the essence of the writers story to reflect their personal journey.
