Simon Morris: Room Of Time

by Simon Morris

Simon Morris’s Room of Time was made by Simon Morris over a ten day period between 19-29 September 2022 in the Hancock Gallery of City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi. It is part of Morris's ongoing exploration into the occupation of space through time-based abstract painting.

This is the fourth ‘wall work’ Morris has made at City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi. Each brushstroke extends what has become a sustained encounter with these spaces that stretches back over twenty-five years, but meets us in the direct experience of a painting encountered in the here and now.

Featuring the exhibition Room of Time showcased at City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi in 2022 Abstract in form and impermanent in nature, this painting existed only for the duration of the exhibition.

Simon Morris is a practicing artist and Associate Professor at School of Art Whiti o Rehua Massey University, Wellington. Morris's artwork encourages a direct experience of time in an accelerated, technology-driven world.
