For a short time a ‘reading room’ with percolated coffee was created in the Bunker; an underground space below the shop accessed by steep and treacherous stairs. It wasn’t long before the shop established itself as a hub, a place to exchange ideas and debate the merits of different writers. The following year the lease in the space next door became available and Unity expanded to create a dedicated children’s bookstore under the management of Children’s Buyer, Ange Travers. This popular song has been sung with gusto in schools and preschools for 30 years. Simple and catchy, about our own iconic Christmas tree, it was written in 1994 by Linda Adamson, the creator of the successful and much-loved Love to Sing range of over 400 songs.
