From celebrities to activists, authors and scientists, Walker honors both the trailblazers who fought for LGBTQ+ equality and the generations standing on their shoulders
A fashion-world phenomenon since his first editorial shoot for Vogueat 25 years old, photographer Tim Walker debuts his most personal and profound series yet--a new body of work dedicated to queer identity, love and community. Within this enchanted volume, readers join Walker as he charts a mythic journey across half a century of activism, through portraits that range from the fantastical and exuberant to the intimate and grounded. Many will recognize Ncuti Gatwa, Chappell Roan or Harry Styles, but Walker also celebrates the unsung heroes, including the health professionals and medical researchers working at the front line of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. Complemented by incisive and illuminating essays from Russell T Davies, Shon Faye, Travis Alabanza, Lisa Power and Joelle Taylor, Fairylandis a place where everyone has the freedom to be themselves, a vivid tapestry of Walker's many inspirations and influences.
